Sweet Fortune Cookie Recipe



RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
Chilled 9-inch piecrust
Cornstarch
3-inch-wide round cookie cutter or drinking glass
Rolling pin or glass.
Nontoxic marker
Slips of paper
Water
Colored sugar
Cookie sheet




1. Lay a chilled 9-inch piecrust on a cornstarch-dusted surface. Cut out 3-inch-wide circles with a round cookie cutter or drinking glass. To use all the dough, roll out the scraps with a pin or a cornstarch-dusted glass.
Step 2 2. Use a nontoxic marker to write fortunes on slips of paper and place one in the center of each dough circle. Fold the circle in half, then pinch and fold the ends together, as shown.
3. Brush the top of each cookie with water, then sprinkle on colored sugar. Place the cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet about an inch apart, sugar side up. Bake them until lightly browned, about 20 minutes, and let them cool before removing them from the pan. Makes about 16 cookies.

¾ cup shortening (1/2 butter)
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup sugar
2 eggs
¼ cup water
1 cup flour
½ tsp soda
dash of salt
2 cups oatmeal
1 cup chocolate chips
½ cup coconut
½ cup nuts
Mix together in bowl all ingredients. Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Do not over bake.

Easy Rolled Lemon Cookies Recipe
½ cup butter
1 cp sugar
2 eggs
2 Tbsp milk
2 tsp baking powder
3 cups flour
2 drops lemon extract
Cream butter, add sugar, eggs well beaten, milk, lemon extract, and dry ingredients. Chill. Roll out thin. Cut in fancy shapes. Bake at 350-degree oven approx. 3 minutes.

¾ cup shortening
1 cup sugar
¼ cup molasses
1 egg
2 tsp. Baking soda
2 cup flour (sifted)
½ tsp cloves
½ tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp salt
Melt shortening in a 3 or 4 qt saucepan over low heat. Remove from head and let cool. Add sugar, molasses, egg, and beat well. Sift together flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, and salt. Then add to first mixture. Mix well and chill. Form into 1-inch balls and roll in granulated sugar. Place on greased cookie sheets 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.

3 cups regular flour (sifted)
1 tsp salt
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
1 ½ cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 cup sour cream
1 Tbsp Cinnamon
1 Tbsp Sugar
Cream butter and sugar; beat in eggs, and vanilla. Sift in flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Adding alternately with sour cream and blend well to make thick batter. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 4 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Spread into 2-inch rounds. Sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar mixture. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes. Remove from cookie sheets to cool.

1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup butter
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda dissolved in 1 tsp hot water

1 cup shortening
1 ½ cup sugar
2 eggs
2 ½ cup flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

Combine ingredients. Chill dough then roll into a ball. Roll in mixture of 2 tbsp sugar and 1 tbsp cinnamon. Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes until lightly brown.

Chocolate Bon Bon Cookies

½ cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg beaten
2 cup flour
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp baking soda mixed in ½ cup milk
1 chocolate squares melted
Nuts (optional)
Cream ½ cup shortening and 1 cup brown sugar. Add 1 egg (beaten). Sift together and add 2 cups flour and ½ tsp salt. Then add ½ cup milk with 2 squares melted chocolate. Drop by teaspoons on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes in 360-degree oven.
Icing:
1 egg (beaten)
1 ¾ cup powdered sugar
1 Tbsp milk
1 oz. Chocolate Square
1 tsp vanilla

Nut Cookies

½ cup shortening
1 cup sugar
¾ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
2 large eggs
2 cups flour
½ tsp soda
¾ tsp baking powder
2/3 cup nuts (chopped)

Cream shortening and sugar. Add salt, vanilla and unbeaten eggs. Beat until fluffy. Add flour, soda and baking powder. Beat then add nuts. Bake at 360 degrees for 15 minutes.

Peanut Butter Cookies

½ cup shortening
½ cup peanut butter
1 cup white sugar
1 egg (well beaten)
1 ¼ cup flour
1 ½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
Cream shortening and peanut butter. Add sugar and cream. Add well beaten egg to cream mixture. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together and add. Chill dough, then form into balls, size of walnuts. Place balls on lightly greased baking sheet. Flatten with fork dipped in flour, making criss-cross pattern Bake 100-12 minutes at 375 degrees. Makes approx. 4 dozen cookies.

Grandma's Butter Cookies

1 cup butter
1 ½ cup sugar
2 egg yolks
1 tsp. Soda (dissolved in 1 tbsp hot water)
2 cup flour
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp vanilla

Mix all together adding vanilla last. Shape into small balls and place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes.

Caramel Cookies

½ cup butter softened
½ cup shortening
2 cups packed brown sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla
3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp soda
½ tsp salt
1 cup finely-chopped pecans

Cream together butter, shortening, and sugar. Stir in eggs and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients. Blend into batter. Stir in nuts. Divide dough in half. Shape each into 2-½ inch roll. Wrap in waxed paper, then aluminum foil. Refrigerate until firm. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cut rolls into 1/8-inch slices and place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes until lightly browned.

Swedish Butter Cookies

1 lb butter
½ cup sugar
4 cups flour
1 cup large almonds chopped

Roll in hand and pat out. Cut to desired size. Bake in 350-degree oven until just begins to brown. Roll in powdered sugar while warm.
